UTM WON!!!!

UTM WON 1 BEST AWARD, 1 OUTSTANDING INVENTOR AWARD 3 GOLD, AND 4 SILVER IN MTE 2017 (MALAYSIA TECHNOLOGY EXPO 2017)

Kuala Lumpur, 17 February 2017 – UTM have maintained its impressive record at this year edition of Malaysia Technology Expo by winning 1 Best Award, 1 Outstanding Inventor Award 3 Gold, and 4 Silver. MTE 2017 was launched by Y.B. Dato’ Norhalim bin Yunus, one of the Malaysian Technology Development Corporation. The exhibition took place from 16 to 18 February, 2017 at Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC), Kuala Lumpur.

The invention that won Best Award & Gold Medal altogether was invented by Prof Dr. Noriah Bidin from the Faculty of Science titled “Fibre Optic Refractometer” while the other two inventions that won the Gold Medals was invented by Dr. Wira Jazair bin Yahya from Malaysia Japan International Institute of Technology titled “Real-Time Non-Surfacant Emulsion Fuel Supply System (RTES) For Diesel Powered Road Transport” and also by Prof. Madya Dr. Mohd Hafiz Dzarfan bin Othman from Faculty of Chemical Engineering & Energy Engineering, titled “K-Membrane: Smart Membrane For Oily Wastewater Treatment”

The product titled “An L-Shaped Dual-Band MIMO Rectangular Dielectric resonator Antenna for LTE Applications” was invented by Dr. Mohd Haizal bin Jamaludidn from Faculty of Electrical Engineering is a great invention nevertheless, in can easily amplify the capability of 4G mobile data networks 10 times faster than the normal speed achieved by using the current portable 4G devices that available on the market these days. Some of the visitors were also stunned by its capabilities and a few of them show some great interest in the invention itself. Don’t worry Dr Haizal, you might get the silver medal now, but trust me, if you get the right marketing tools, the cloud above your head will raining diamonds in the future.

One of the purposes of MTE 2017 is to highlight products invented by universities, personal individuals and inventor groups around the world to the public and industries. Around 5,000 visitors ranging from students of schools and higher learning institutions as well as members of the public and industries attend this year exhibition.
Congratulations to all UTM researchers that participated in MTE 2017. It is hoped that through this success UTM will be soaring higher than before. Keep it up and don’t give up.
