OPEN FOR APPLICATION: SCIENCE & ENGINEERING RESEARCH GRANT BY MALAYSIA TORAY SCIENCE FOUNDATION (MTSF) 2025

Dear UTM Researchers,

With all due respect, we would like to bring your attention to the above matter.

The Science & Engineering Research Grant by Malaysia Toray Science Foundation (MTSF) is now Open for Application. There are Ten (10) or fifteen (15) Research Grants of up to RM 60,000 each for Malaysian researchers below 40 years of age pursuing basic research in science and technology (limited to the fields of natural sciences, including the environment, but excluding clinical medicine and mathematics), inclusive of grants totalling Yen5 Million funded by Toray Science Foundation, Japan.

General Criteria: 

• For energetic and creative young Malaysian researchers.

• Aged below 40.

• Engaged in a basic fundamental scientific research field at a research facility in Malaysia.

• Residing in Malaysia.

• Individual or Group effort.

• Excludes clinical medicine and mathematics.

There are 3 stages in the selection process:

1st Stage : Shortlisting of applicants by the Selection Committee through the review of the Application Forms.

2nd Stage : Interview of shortlisted applicants by the Selection Committee.

3rd Stage : Approval of the successful applicants by the Board of the Foundation.
