UTM, through the Research Management Centre (RMC), is sincerely thankful to UTMSPACE for the generous RM7 million cash contribution under the Double Tax Deduction (DTD), Section 34B of the Income Tax Act 1967. Alhamdulillah.
The cheque was officially handed over by Prof. Dr. Nazri bin Ali, Chief Executive Officer & Managing Director of UTMSPACE, to Prof. Dr. Zulkurnain Abdul Malek, Director of the Research Management Centre, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia at UTMSPACE Head Office, Residensi KL.
We also extend our sincere appreciation and gratitude to the UTMSPACE Board of Directors for their leadership, support, and continued trust in strengthening UTM’s research and innovation ecosystem.

Since 1991, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) has been certified by the Ministry of Finance Malaysia as an Approved Research Institute (ARI) under Section 34B of the Income Tax Act 1967, enabling UTM to offer Double Tax Deduction (DTD) incentives to local business entities for:
Cash Donation – Section 34B(1)(a)
Cash Funding for Qualifying R&D in Science & Technology – Section 34B(1)(b)
Local business entities are highly encouraged to contribute directly to RMC UTM under the DTD scheme, where every RM contributed is eligible for DTD entitlement, in support of impactful research, innovation, and talent development at UTM.
